Don't Lose Your Rental Assistance. Remember:


  • To maintain your housing assistance, you must provide true and complete information to the Housing Agency and to your landlord. False or misleading statements will result in the denial or termination of assistance. Not making a statement may be considered misleading.

  • Pay your rent on time each and every month.

  • Maintain your house, apartment, condo, or other type of unit in accordance with your lease and Housing Quality Standards (HQS).
  • If you or your guests damage the unit, you will lose your assistance.

  • Poor housekeeping may be considered damage.
  • Removing smoke detector batteries is considered damage and is not permitted (except when replacing).
  • Pay your utilities on time every month.
  • Do not allow unauthorized household members. Only persons who are listed on your voucher may live in or receive mail at your unit.
  • Report all income accurately and within 10 days. Income decreases and increases must be reported.
  • You must report income that you expect to receive; for example, if you have filed for a benefit, report it. If you are starting a new job, report it. Do not wait for the first paycheck, as it may be too late and you will lose your assistance.
